Will the sky fall on our heads one day? Meteorites are at the centre of the ERES Foundation's new exhibition MESSENGERS FROM ABOVE. The primordial matter of the solar system becomes a ‘time capsule’, a valuable information carrier for art and science. While researchers hope to draw conclusions about the origin and future of life, artists read the extraterrestrial data storage units in a multifaceted wealth of contemporary positions: Works that amaze, utopian-dystopian visions and works full of humour and poetry penetrate the atmosphere of the exhibition spaces, questioning chance and probability, new dimensions. And again and again about the position of us humans in the great cosmic structure. Will we need an interplanetary Noah's Ark?

Fällt uns eines Tages der Himmel auf den Kopf? Meteoriten stehen im Zentrum der neuen Ausstellung der ERES Stiftung MESSENGERS FROM ABOVE. Die Urmaterie des Sonnensystems wird darin zur „Zeitkapsel“, zum wertvollen Informationsträger für Kunst und Wissenschaft. Während sich die Forschung Rückschlüsse auf Ursprung und Zukunft des Lebens erhofft, lesen Künstlerinnen und Künstler die extraterrestrischen Datenspeicher in einer facettenreichen Fülle an zeitgenössischen Positionen aus: Werke, die in Staunen versetzen, utopisch-dystopische Visionen und Arbeiten voller Humor und Poesie dringen in die Atmosphäre der Ausstellungsräume ein, fragen nach Zufall und Wahrscheinlichkeit, nach neuen Dimensionen. Und immer wieder nach der Position von uns Menschen im großen kosmischen Gefüge. Werden wir eine interplanetarische Arche Noah brauchen?
