“The 'house' is an obsession since my childhood. I often dreamed of houses and stretches of water and I made notes of them. Some are fascinatingly lucid, others more traumatic… Why this is so deeply embedded in me is that even as a child I wanted to build houses and this is probably to do with experience of our house being destroyed by a typhoon… so the houses are protection and danger at the same time. They are between human needs against the nature.” – Leiko Ikemura
Galerie Rüdiger Schöttle is very pleased to announce the group exhibition “Breaking the walls, Dino appears”, curated by Leiko Ikemura. The theme-based interdisciplinary exhibition unites visual artists and architects who find or create a poetic approach to the world by using similar methods.

„Das ‚Haus‘ ist eine Obsession seit meiner Kindheit. Ich habe oft von Häusern und Wasserflächen geträumt und mir Notizen dazu gemacht. Manche sind faszinierend klar, andere eher traumatisch... Der Grund, warum das so tief in mir verankert ist, ist, dass ich schon als Kind Häuser bauen wollte, und das hat wahrscheinlich mit der Erfahrung zu tun, dass unser Haus von einem Taifun zerstört wurde... die Häuser sind also Schutz und Gefahr zugleich. Sie stehen zwischen menschlichen Bedürfnissen und der Natur.“ – Leiko Ikemura
Die Galerie Rüdiger Schöttle freut sich sehr, die Gruppenausstellung „Breaking the walls, Dino appears“ ankündigen zu dürfen, welche von Leiko Ikemura kuratiert wird. Die themenbasierte interdisziplinäre Ausstellung vereint Bildende Künstler*innen, sowie Architekt*innen, die mit ähnlichen Methoden einen poetischen Zugang zur Welt finden oder kreieren.
