The commissioned work “Nostralgia” by Gülbin Ünlü, located at the staff entrance of Haus der Kunst, unfolds at the threshold between function and fiction, existing in a state of perpetual suspension – where access is withheld and completion deferred. The work lingers at a dwelling in a state of anticipation that never resolves.
“Nostralgia” expands space and time through subtle interventions in the museum’s overlooked thresholds. Beginning at the staff entrance, Gülbin Ünlü invites visitors to navigate the building through inaccessible, yet fully present, doors. It is an invitation to move through the institution without destination, to attend to the act of encountering. The work becomes a quiet choreography of stillness, exploring the latent potential of spaces when activated through presence and liveness.

Die ortspezifische Auftragsarbeit „Nostralgia“ von Gülbin Ünlü im Personaleingang des Haus der Kunst entfaltet sich an der Grenze zwischen Funktion und Fiktion, in einem Zustand fortwährender Schwebe – einem Ort, an dem Zugang verwehrt und Vollendung hinausgezögert wird. Das Werk verweilt in einem Moment der Erwartung, der sich nie auflöst.
„Nostralgia“ erweitert Raum und Zeit durch subtile Eingriffe in die oft übersehenen Schwellen des Hauses. Ausgangspunkt ist der Personaleingang, von dem aus Gülbin Ünlü die Besucher:innen einlädt, das Gebäude durch unzugängliche, aber dennoch präsente Türen zu erkunden. Es ist eine Einladung, die Institution ohne festes Ziel zu durchqueren und sich auf den Akt des Begegnenlassens einzulassen. Das Werk wird zu einer stillen Choreografie der Bewegungslosigkeit, die das latente Potenzial von Räumen erforscht – aktiviert durch Präsenz und Lebendigkeit.
