On the occasion of VO, the collector Markus Michalke has invited the Berlin artist and curator Michael Müller to show his own works and to present the main venue of his curatorial work in Berlin - the Kunstsæle. The exhibition brings together works from 1985 to the present day - a concentrated distillation of his conceptual approach to painting.
All the works were created over a long period of time and the artist returned to them again and again in order to expand, reconceptualize and reduce them. The painterly investigations range from the question of the relationship between two clashing colors and the influence of various painting tools such as fingers, squeegees, brushes, rags and sponges on the creative process to the processing of the complex relationships between motif, image, image carrier and the painting as a physical object. And why does perspective arise even in abstract drawings through the partial superimposition of amorphous forms?

Anlässlich VO hat der Sammler Markus Michalke den Berliner Künstler und Kurator Michael Müller eingeladen, eigene Werke zu zeigen und den Hauptort von dessen Kuratorentätigkeit in Berlin – die Kunstsæle – vorzustellen. Die Ausstellung versammelt Werke von 1985 bis heute – ein konzentriertes Destillat seiner konzeptuellen Herangehensweise an die Malerei.
Alle Arbeiten sind über einen langen Zeitraum entstanden und der Künstler kehrte immer wieder zu ihnen zurück, um Erweiterungen, Neukonzeptionen, Reduzierungen vorzunehmen. Die malerischen Untersuchungen reichen von der Frage nach dem Verhältnis von zwei aufeinandertreffenden Farben über den Einfluss verschiedener Malwerkzeuge wie Finger, Rakel, Pinsel, Lappen und Schwamm auf den kreativen Prozess bis hin zu Bearbeitungen der komplexen Verhältnisse von Motiv, Bild, Bildträger und dem Gemälde als physischem Objekt. Und warum entsteht selbst in abstrakten Zeichnungen durch die partielle Überlagerung von amorphen Formen Perspektive?
